【摘要】:1.1Thisspecificationcoversuntreatedandheat-treatedcarbonandalloysteelforgingsforgeneralindustrialuse.OtherASTMspecificationsforforgingsareavailableforspecificapplicationssuchaspressurevessels,railroaduse,turbinegenerators,gearing,andothersinvolvingspecialtemperaturerequirements.1.2Hot-rolledorcoldfinishedbarsarenotwithinthescopeofthisspecification.1.3Sixclassesofcarbonsteelandsevenclassesofalloysteelforgingsarelisted(seeSection7),whichindicatestheirrequiredheattreatments,aswellasmechanicalproperties.1.4Provision,withthesuffixHforcertificationandmarking,forthesupplyofforgingsafterhardnesstestingonly.1.5Supplementaryrequirements,includingthoseinSpecificationA788/A788M,ofanoptionalnatureareprovided.Theseshallapplyonlywhenspecifiedbythepurchaser.1.6AppendixX1liststhecurrentclassescorrespondingtothevariousclassesofSpecificationsA235,A237,andA243,whichhavebeensupersededbythisspecification.1.7Thevaluesstatedineitherinch-poundunitsorSIunitsaretoberegardedseparatelyasthestandard;withinthetextandtables,theSIunitsareshowninbrackets.Thevaluesstatedineachsystemarenotexactlyequivalent;therefore;eachsystemmustbeusedindependentlyoftheother.Combiningvaluesfromthetwosystemsmayresultinnonconformancewiththespecification.1.8Unlesstheorderspecifiestheapplicable"M"specification,theforgingsshallbefurnishedtotheinch-poundunits
