【摘要】:Shippingcontainersandtheinteriorpackagingmaterialsareusedtoprotecttheircontentsfromthehazardsencounteredinhandling,transportation,andstorage.Shockisoneofthemoretroublesomeofthesehazards.Free-falldroptesting,whileeasytoperform,oftenunderstressesthetestspecimenbysubjectingittodropswhicharenotperpendiculartothedroppingsurface.Note18212;Forexample,testinghasshownthatnon-perpendiculardrops,2x00B0;offperpendicularity,resultin8%loweraccelerationintothetestspecimenresultingfromtheimpactenergydispersinginseveralaxes.Controlledshockinputbyshockmachinesprovidesaconvenientmethodforevaluatingtheabilityofshippingcontainers,interiorpackagingmaterials,andcontentstowithstandshocks.Simulatedfree-falldroptestingofpackagesystems,whichhavecriticalelements,hasproducedgoodresultswherethefrequencyoftheshockpulseisatleastthreetimesthatofthepackagesystem''snaturalfrequency.Asinmostmechanicalshocktestprocedures,fixturingofthepackageontheshocktestmachinemayhavesignificantinfluenceonthetestresults.Typically,packageswillbefirmlyheldonthetablebysecuringsometypeofcrossmember(s)acrossthetopofthepackage.Careshouldbetakenthatanypressureresultingfromsuchfixturingshouldbeminimal,particularlywhenthecontainerbeingtestediscorrugatedorsomeothersimilarmaterial.Incaseswherelow-acceleration,long-durationresponsesareanticipated,anyfixturingcanpotentiallyinfluencepackageditemresponseandcanpossiblyalteranycorrelationbetweenthistestmethodandfree-falldroptesting.Wheresuchcorrelationisdesired,thepackagecanbetestedwithoutitbeingfixeddirectlytothetable.Notethatinsuchcircumstances,theshippingcontainercanvigorouslyreboundfromthetableandcan,ifnototherwisecontrolled,presentasafetyproblemforoperators.Fixingtheshippingcontainertotheshockmachinetableismostoftenrecommendedforsafetyandconvenience,butaccuracyandprecisionofthistestmethodshouldnotbecompromisedbysuchfixturing.Note28212;Arigidpackagesystemwithanaturalfrequencyabove83Hzrequiresashockpulseshorterthanthe2-ms(nominal)durationcurrentlyavailablewithmanyoftoday''sshockmachines:where:ds
